Is pop culture a good theme for composition?

Pop culture is an excellent theme for composition because it is what young adults are interested in.  All kids talk about is what the new "in" thing is.  As teens, it is our job to know what the new style is and the new music that's playing.  Writing about pop culture will empower us to write about something we know, which will give us the chance to let our minds come out on paper.
